People choose their respective careers for many reasons, whether it’s potential for advancement, a desire to use their skills in a specific arena, or even income possibilities. But for me, it was all about helping others. I wanted a career that would allow me to add value to people’s lives and help them achieve a bigger future they had only dreamed of. With an interest in finance and an understanding of how much of an impact money makes, I decided to put my passion into action as a wealth manager.
Starting Out
That’s the big picture. But here’s how my journey played out. I grew up in a middle-class family. I saw how hard my father worked to provide for us, but it was always a battle against inflation and the growing expenses of raising a family. When I attended California State University, Los Angeles to earn my bachelor’s degree in business administration, I took a handful of finance and investing courses that piqued my interest. I wanted to learn more about the finance industry and read as many books as I could get my hands on. I realized that if my parents had received objective advice and knowledge, they could have invested their money and let it work for them in the long term, instead of just trying to stay one step ahead of the bills. I came across so many people who didn’t know where to turn for financial help or what resources to trust.
I decided to pursue a career as a wealth manager so that I could be that resource and help my friends, family, and community secure their finances and experience a better life.
My Career Today
Now, more than 20 years later, I am a wealth manager and Certified Wealth Strategist® (CWS®) at Arrowhead Wealth Advisors. I spend my days walking my clients through our holistic planning process based on their needs, concerns, and dreams. Though I can’t turn back the clock and help my parents grow their hard-earned money, I’ve made it my goal to help my clients manage investment risk while creating growth and income.
Everyone walks through my door with their own unique circumstances. I love getting to know them, building a long-lasting relationship (that often continues through the generations), and celebrating with them when they achieve their goals, whether that’s paying for their child’s college education or investing their time in travel, family, or things they are passionate about. I became a wealth manager because I saw an opportunity to make a difference in people’s financial lives. Now, all these years later, my motivation still comes from my desire to see my clients thrive and experience the freedom to do the things in life that bring them fulfillment.
